The orchestra was established in 1963 by Takeharu Nobuhara; gave the first public performance in Japan of "Matthew Passion", "John Passion" of G. Ph. Telemann, etc, with the direction of him. They have received many awards such as Osaka Cultural Festival Award, Excellent Performance Award at the arts festival by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the 17th Suntory Music Award, etc.
     In 1990, they invited Simon Standage, a baroque violinist, as a music advisor, and started to play with the period instruments of baroque era and replica of them. They were invited by Bach-Archiv (German) in 2003, and gave the first public performance in the world of the "Harpsichord Concerto Wq.1" of C. P. E. Bach in "Bach Festival"
     They started to play with the period instruments of classical era and replica of them from 2006, and gained the Grand Prix of Osaka Cultural Festival Award, throughout a good show of "Oratorio the Seasons" of J. Haydn in 2007. In 2008, they gave a series of performances with original instruments: 11 pieces in total, namely, Beethoven's all Symphonies, Chorus Fantasy, and Missa Solemnus; all of their performance were released as 6 CDs.
